1/Unsetteled Ground

Vision 2027 update

Unsettled Ground

Colour is never neutral; it reflects the systems of the world that shape how we live and what we value. Uncharted Territory reflects a world undergoing economic, technological, environmental, social, and emotional change. As globalization enters a new phase, trade routes, the people who make products, the materials that make up a product, how prices are calculated, what things cost, and where they come from are all being reevaluated. The dream of the previous industrial era is fracturing just as we enter a new one.

In the industrialised world, supply chains are changing while tariffs are reshaping trade. This is not the end of globalization; the local and the global remain intertwined. The paths of goods, people, stories, and traditions are complex and are becoming more visible. As the cost of living rises and the price of products comes under pressure, the stories and journeys of the things we use prompt us to look deeper and connect to local, personal truths and legacies.

In this landscape of shifting foundations, colour becomes an expression for navigating uncertainty. The colours that once signified prosperity, stability, or progress may no longer resonate in the same way. The colour choices hold both the weight of inherited meanings and the potential for new narratives. The colours are based on the tension between the free movement of water, air, music, and culture, and the tenacity of raw materials, industry, and physical craftsmanship. The colours are a visible layering of holding on and letting go: passed-down and reinterpreted hues, tonal, nostalgic yet progressive.
